A psychologist walked around a room while teaching stress management to an audience. As she raised a glass of water, everyone expected they’d be asked the “half empty or half full” question. Instead, with a smile on her face, she inquired: ”How heavy is this glass of water?”
Answers called out ranged from 8 oz. to 20 oz.
She replied, “The absolute weight doesn’t matter. It depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, it’s not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I’ll have an ache in my arm. If I hold it for a day, my arm will feel numb and paralyzed. In each case, the weight of the glass doesn’t change, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes.”
She continued, “The stresses and worries in life are like that glass of water. Think about them for a while and nothing happens. Think about them a bit longer and they begin to hurt. And if you think about them all day long, you will feel paralyzed – incapable of doing anything.”
It’s important to remember to let go of your stresses. As early in the evening as you can, put all your burdens down. Don’t carry them through the evening and into the night. Remember to put the glass down!

DeleteWith today's heavy homework loads, time-management and organizationalskills are crucial weapons against stress, experts say.
DeleteHai and Hello.. Thanks for the effort to do this kind of blog. Hope that this blog can help with many beginners out there. Regarding on the question posted by Ahmad Arebey on top, I guess, in my humble opinion, we can overcome stress in lot kind of ways. I mean, really, we do have thousands of those little assignment that keep bugging us daily. Right? hehee
ReplyDeleteFirst and foremost, agree with Emanuel, TIME MANAGEMENT and ORGANIZATION SKILLS are very important in managing your stress or should I say, the whole thing that we called LIFE. We need to manage our time carefully and organize every details, specifically in order to avoid piles of unfinished assignment that may result in procrastination, which in the end will lead to stress. So it's better to have those lame timetable that we always did back in school (well, for me, I always make one for one whole year..)
Another one way to overcome stress is by REWARDing yourself. One thing that I learned after 2 years in Degree study, a reward after doing or accomplishing something is the best remedy for a student. Whether it is a vacation, trip to somewhere interesting, an ice-cream or even watching those midnight movie with friends. Have one for yourself after accomplishing your assignment. It may help to reduce those stress that piling up in you.
Last but not least, SHARING. I often share my stress with my roommate, like all the time. The best part was he is one of the best listener that I know. So it is easier for me to share my stories, my anger towards the "makcik cafe" that always overcharge me because of my body size and last, those stress coming from piles of assignments. Tips from me, find someone whose easier for you to share your story. Sharing helps to lessen the burden that being kept in you. It's like asking for help. For me, I guess. Be it your parent, sister, brother, friends, roommate or even your lecturer as well. Another tips, those whom older than you is much more a listener-type because they understand us more, based on their experiences.
Well I guess that's all from me. Sorry for the long post,. hehehe :) May this post will help you Ahmad and all followers of this blog to overcome, or at least lessen and reduce those stress. :)
Stress also helping us a lot to face with real challenge in future
ReplyDeleteI agreed on how you said. In our life, we have to be smart so that we can live a life free of stress and lead to a positive value so that everyone can follow our habit.
